A new massively parallel computing server has been recently installed in the Environmental Research Laboratory. The new server is based on Supermicro’s Microcloud technology that allows for very dense parallel distributed systems. It consists of 5 microclouds with 12 Intel Xeon quad-core processors each, delivering a total 240 computing cores.
The cluster will be used for MPI calculations in the fields of environmental modeling, weather forecasting, transport processes in porous media and molecular dynamics simulations.
