🌊 Climate change amplifies natural hazards—droughts, flooding, wildfires, and coastal erosion—posing risks to infrastructure services like energy and water. Transformative, nature-based solutions (NbS) offer a cost-effective and resilient way to safeguard critical sectors.

🌿The Med-IREN project aims to protect local communities and businesses from climate extreme events across the Mediterranean region. By combining nature-inspired solutions with engineering practices, the project seeks to safeguard societies from flooding, wildfires and other climate hazards that threaten critical sectors, such as transport and energy.

GIB’s role in the project is twofold;

🗺️ To guide regions towards implementing Nature-based Solutions with tailored pathways and impact measurement, and
📊 To develop financial assessment tools for the integration of nature into critical infrastructure.
